EVERYTHING MAKING ME HALT (Poem 1)
EVERY THING MAKING ME HALT
less cars like ocean
new road like
the country I dreamt of
now we are edges, not edges
like blossoms bragging
block by block
children walk dogs, stroll babies
past gunless mansions
shuttered in their way
rumors of dolphins, irl hummingbirds
an otter by the landscaped bank
brown booze stashed in the bushes
man dancing shopping cart backwards
across the intersection
bruised fruit rolls free
the prairie where traffic
would be
across the intersection
nica.
